Why Presbyterian Retirement Communities?Being raised as a Christian and having attended a Presbyterian church my entire life I knew when the time came to look for a retirement location for my grandma it would be at one of the Presbyterian retirement communities. Sure enough that is exactly what grandma wanted. So we began investigating some communities... It appears there are several good Presbyterian retirement communities in several different states. We currently live in North Carolina and I have found a few here as well. Our main concern was the type and amount of care that would be available for grandma. I had read up on some very nice Presbyterian communities in Seattle, Houston, and parts of Georgia. They all seemed to offer good quality care, large spacious apartment like units, and a high level of comfort for the residents. The one in Seattle spoke of how it promotes health and well being. I liked that but we did not want to have grandma move so far away. The other location that I liked was in Tennessee and it to had a number of positive factors and good references. For the family it was important to find a place that had a good Christian base and a loving attitude toward its residence. All of the Presbyterian retirement communities that we spoke to all had social activities and field trips to the shops. I also heard a lot about physical and mental wellbeing and healthy attitude. After interviewing so many we could see the Christian values were there in all of them. These communities all care for their residents with love and compassion. The goal is to give the resident the opportunity for the very best quality of life on the inside and the outside. After doing a lot of web searching, phone interviews, and in some cases an on site visit. We decided to have grandma go to one of the Presbyterian retirement communities in Florida. It was further then we wanted to send her but the place impressed us so much we knew it was the right choice for her. Before moving to North Carolina I had lived in Orlando Florida for 10 years. Grandma would be about an hour from there and I was glad I was familiar with the area. When it comes to moving a loved one to a Presbyterian retirement community, or any retirement community, regardless of its affiliation, we just want to know our loved one will be happy and healthy in their new environment. Making a move at a late stage in life can be very traumatic and it is important to make the right choice so as not to have to move them again. Presbyterian retirement communities are a terrific choice for anyone looking for a loving, caring atmosphere. We new we were doing the right thing for grandma. She is now loving all of her new friends, activities, field trips to the mall, and even the new art class she has been taking! |
